Most solar farms in the UK are cut between 2 and 5 times per year, depending on grass growth, soil fertility, and whether grazing is used.
- Sheep grazing + occasional topping: Usually 1–2 mechanical cuts annually
- Standard unmanaged grass growth: Around 3–4 cuts per year
- Fast-growing fertile sites / appearance-focused sites: Up to 5–6 cuts per year
A common UK schedule is:
- Spring cut - April/May
- Mid-summer cut - June/July
- Late summer/autumn cut - September/October
